Eyelids Discharge

AFTER CARE INSTRUCTIONS: BLEPHAROPLASTY

Please have hydrogen peroxide, Ibuprofen, Q-tips,Vaseline and lubricating eye drops on hand.

Plan to have bruising. Remember to stop blood thinning medication including Ibuprofen and aspirin, as well as many herbal supplements at least one week in advance.

If you take Valium prior to your procedure, you must have a ride home.Though many patients feel perfectly fine to drive, this is not our recommendation.

If you wear contact lenses, please leave them at home and bring glasses.

Please keep your wound from forming a scab. Use hydrogen peroxide to clean off any bloody crust along your incision lines and keep a light layer of Vaseline on your stitches to keep them soft and less irritating.

Plan to return for suture removal in the first 5 days after your surgery. We will schedule additional follow up for 2 weeks and 2 months.

If it feels good, you may use an ice compress for swelling and comfort during the first few hours after surgery. Ibuprofen 400-600 mg or Tylenol 750 mg every six hours both work well for pain.

Avoid strenuous activity for at least 3 days to limit bruising and complications related to bruising.

No makeup until 24 hours after sutures are removed and no scabs are present.

Small cysts may form on your scar during the healing process. Simply return for a visit and we can treat them for you.

Remember scars will become smooth and fade for 12-24 months.
